Church Family - Pray for those who are sick or injured.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 22, 2023.  As you recall, this is a period of fasting, almsgiving (giving to others), penance and prayer, as we develop a closer relationship with God and move forward.  During the 40 days of Lent, we prepare ourselves to celebrate Easter.  Please consider fasting during the period of Lent, if you are medically able to do so.  If you are able, we recommend selecting one day of the week and adopt a fast from sunrise to sunset, eating nothing during the period and consuming only water.  During this period of fast, we ask that you spend time focusing on your penance and prayer to strengthen your faith.  If you are unable to refrain from eating for the fast, we recommend you give up an action, activity or event one day of the week. Perhaps you can refrain from social media, use of the cellular telephone, watching tv, computer use or the like.  During this fast, you may also spend time focusing on penance and prayer to strengthen your faith.  You may certainly fast for more than one day per week, if you wish.  By fasting, we are called to focus more on the needs of our faith and relationship with God, rather than being “hungry”.  We pray you will join us in this Lenten Path of Fasting & Prayer.
